Background


The Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sendirian Berhad (English: Second Automobile Manufacturer Private Limited), usually abbreviated toPerodua), is Malaysia's second largest automobile manufacturer after Proton. It was established in 1992 and launched their first car, the Perodua Kancil in August 1994.[1] 'M2’ was refers to the codename which was used when the project to establish Perodua was still Top Secret. The shareholders of Perodua are UMW Corporation Sdn Bhd with 38% stake, Daihatsu Motor Co. Ltd. (20%), MBM Resources Bhd (20%), PNB Equity Resources Corporation Sdn Bhd (10%), Mitsui & Co. Ltd (7%) and Daihatsu (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (5%).


Perodua mainly produces minicars and superminis and therefore does not actually directly compete with Proton. They do not actually produce any in house designs or engineering for their main components (i.e. engine, transmission). Historically, Perodua cars are badge engineered from existing Daihatsu designs. Daihatsu originally held a 20% stake in Perodua, increasing this to 25% in 2001 and then to 35%.[1] In 2004, the Toyota Avanza started being assembled by Perodua in their factory in Rawang for the Malaysian market.






Conclusion


· Company Perodua is mainly produces minicars and superminis.


· Import oversea car(Daihatsu) and apply logo on it,that is no R&D on it and not have self Characteristic


· The second largest automobile manufacturer in Malaysia


· According to the 80/20 rule,the prices of perudua cars are relatively affordable to the 80% of the people


· Compete with other affordable imported brand car such as Honda City, Toyota Vios, and Korean brand mini car: kia picanto, hyundai i10.






PERODUA


Strengths: The car is build with ingenious engineering + optimized manufacturing techniques + Toyota technology


Weaknesses: Import oversea car(Daihatsu) and apply logo on it,that is no R&D on it and not have self Characteristic


Opportunities: That’s is opportunities to work with oversea car manufacturer to produce more quality car


Threats: Compete with other affordable imported brand car such as Honda City, Toyota Vios, and Korean brand mini car: kia picanto, hyundai i10.












· The green color is the color of nature, the logo use green color is to show that the product is friendly to the environment.


· Red color inside the logo is showing that the warmest customer service by the Perodua company


· The ‘P’ in the logo is to show that the 1st alphabet of Perodua








· The shape change to oval is more interesting than the old square simple logo.


· The silver color of the logo is to showing that the product is made by metal.


· The shape of alphabet ‘p’ is improve and it look like a shape of thunder to show that all the car is high speed.
